'm chris jansing. next hour, vice president joe biden will host the first event to kickstart public support for a new gun control agenda. proving that post-newtown push for gun legislation isn't fading. it's escalating. biden will hold a roundtable discussion. and then there's the bill introduced. it's the ban on assault weapons. but one of the key and most controversial legislative parts of the obama plan. lawmakers involved actj won't be easy to pass. >> the morn people don't stand up to the lies that are being said that we can't do anything about gun violence, who loses? >> columbine, virginia tech, aurora, tucson, oak creek. the common thread in these shootings is each gunman used a semiautomatic assault weapon or large capacity ammunition magazine. >> will it be hard? for sure. we owe it to our constituents and our country to try. >> feinstein's bill doesn't just ban assault weapons. it bans magazines that hold more than ten rounds, something the vice president focused on in a google chat. >> i am much less concerned, quite frankly, about what you would call an assault weapon than i am

to effectively interact on a multinational stage. when vice president biden sat in this chair, he said on more than one occasion, good international relationships are always predicated on strong interpersonal relationships. i think we can all agree that you have set the highest standard for developing those relationships throughout your career, and as secretary of state, you will continue to strengthen those relationships on behalf of the president's and the furtherance of american foreign policy. i'll have some questions later on policies and your views, including how you explain to world leaders how you could have been rooting for the boston red sox instead of what the world knows as the new york yankees as the team of the world, but lets me say, mr. chairman, it's been a pleasure working with you and looking forward to continuing to work with you on the issues you have championed over the years. fighting global terrorism, preventing the spread of nuclear pilogical and chemical weapons. fighting for human rights and against hiv/aids around the world. fighting crime, corruption, drug traffick
